This volume illustrates the restoration of two 17th-century works housed in the Palazzo Reale Torino: the equestrian monument of Vittorio Amedeo I, a masterpiece of Baroque sculpture located at the entrance to the Grand Staircase, and the painted frieze with Allegorie delle virtù regie in the Staffiers' Hall of the State Apartment. The history of the two works is illustrated in essays that delve into their commissioning, creation, and critical acclaim. The conservation interventions are detailed with technical references to the operations performed, following a multidisciplinary approach to restore to the public two emblematic works of the 17th-century phase of the first Savoy palace in Italy. The volume also describes the maintenance carried out on the paintings above the doors of the Staffiers' Hall.
